Outdoor Cinema in Reading

Deckchairs and bean bags were at Caversham Court Gardens on 8th & 9th June as Summer Screens returned to the riverside for a double bill of films.

Friday’s film was perhaps the most charming movie of all time, and fabulously French too Amélie. The story of a shy waitress working at a tiny Paris cafe, who dedicates herself to helping others find happiness, in the most delightfully unexpected way, but can she find happiness herself? Is it enough to simply watch a film to escape to another world and to come back feeling just a tad warmer? We think so. Settled down early for some vin rouge on the banks of the Seine (AKA The Thames), whilst the sounds of the accordion drifted through the Parisian (or Berkshire) air at sunset. Ooh la la we hear you say!

Then on Saturday they took the highway to the danger zone with Maverick, Goose and Iceman as the 1980s classic Top Gun landed on the lawn at Caversham Court. With its iconic 80’s soundtrack and line after line of memorable quotes, the aviators were broken out, wingman or wing woman were grabbed and settled back to watch Maverick overcome his demons, beat the competition, kick some Russian butt and get the girl, all in 1 hour 50!

Tickets were £10, £8 concessions, for deckchairs, or £25 for a giant bean bag for two. For further information see www.summerscreens.co.uk
