Feminism in Burlesque - Guest Feature

5* reviewed, The Scarlet Vixens are an engaging, diverse and multifaceted dance, burlesque and performing arts troupe based in Reading.

There is a huge presence of feminists in the burlesque scene. One of my main aims with the troupe The Scarlet Vixens is to bring women around to the idea of burlesque being about empowerment, fun, body confidence (loving the skin you're in) etc. Most of our following are female and many have attended our body confidence workshops and watched our shows and come away feeling more confident, self assured and have a better understanding of how a woman's body is beautiful whatever it's shape or size; regardless of what the media tells us.

The Scarlet Vixens are made up of an exquisite line up of performers who are skilled in a variety of different performance styles. We offer not only electrifying burlesque in a vast array of genres for evening/adult entertainment, but also family friendly acts such as aerial arts, belly dancing, singing, magic, hula hoop, feather and silk fan dancing, and many other styles as required.

As well as the above, we offer private tuition, hen party packages and workshops in costuming, body confidence, introduction to burlesque and so much more. I am running burlesque classes on Tuesday 28th February near Reading, the first class is a free taster session and the 6 week course starts immediately after on the following Tuesday. The 6 week course is priced at £50. Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/411925432490098/
