House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Rep. Byron Donalds have requested documents from the National Archives and Records Administration regarding Hunter Biden’s use of Air Force Two and Marine Two while Joe Biden served as vice president. This request follows a Fox News report that alleged Hunter Biden had accompanied his father on multiple trips to various countries.
Republicans argue that Hunter Biden’s travels provided him with opportunities to further his own business interests and potentially benefit the Biden family. President Biden has vehemently denied any involvement in his son’s business dealings, and the White House maintains that no evidence of wrongdoing has been found.
This letter is part of the House Oversight Committee’s ongoing investigation into the Biden family’s business activities. Additionally, House Republicans are considering the possibility of launching an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden’s actions as vice president.
The letter, addressed to the National Archives, has set a deadline of September 13 for the requested documents to be provided. Republicans are citing testimony from one of Hunter Biden’s former business associates, Devon Archer, who claimed that Joe Biden played a role in his son’s business affairs.
Moreover, the committee has learned that Joe Biden reportedly met with one of Hunter Biden’s associates in Beijing while on official business, although Archer stated that he did not have firsthand knowledge of the specifics and was not present during the meeting.
The House Oversight Committee expects the National Archives to comply with their request, as it will promote transparency in their investigation. This development adds further fuel to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Biden family’s business dealings and raises questions about potential conflicts of interest during Joe Biden’s vice presidency.
