Title: New COVID-19 Booster Shots Available for All Ages, Timing Depends on Recent Vaccinations and Infections
As the world continues to battle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, authorities are pushing for a new round of booster shots to enhance immunity. In an effort to keep the public informed, we here at Female Arts bring you the latest updates on the COVID-19 booster shot rollout.
Starting this week, new COVID-19 booster shots will be available for everyone aged 6 months and older. However, the timing of the booster shot varies depending on several factors, including recent vaccinations and COVID-19 infections.
For individuals who recently received a bivalent booster shot, it is advised to wait approximately two months before getting the new booster. Similarly, those who have had a recent COVID-19 infection should wait about three months before receiving the new booster shot.
If it has been more than two months since your last COVID-19 shot, health officials recommend getting the updated shot in the coming weeks. However, individuals aged 65 or older may receive an extra dose of the COVID-19 vaccine four months after their first updated shot. Moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals, on the other hand, can receive an extra dose two months after their most recent updated shot.
Children aged 6 months to 4 years who are receiving their vaccines for the first time should expect two Moderna doses or three Pfizer doses. One of these doses should be the new updated vaccine.
To ensure accessibility, the new COVID-19 vaccines are expected to be available in select pharmacies starting this week. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling local pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens.
While side effects of the new booster shots are anticipated to be similar to previous COVID-19 vaccines, such as a sore arm, minor aches, or a slight fever, it is crucial to consider the overall benefits of the vaccination. These new vaccines have demonstrated strong immune responses against the prevalent EG.5 variant and are expected to provide protection against all XBB variants, which account for over 90% of reported cases in the U.S.
In light of the evolving virus and waning immunity, health professionals emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated. By staying up-to-date with the latest booster shots, individuals can help curb the spread of the virus and protect themselves and their communities.
On a separate note, don’t miss the upcoming episode of The Dr. Nandi Show, where the topic of Munchausen by Proxy will be discussed. This psychological disorder delves into the disturbing reality of a person intentionally making someone, often a child, appear sick or injured for their own attention and sympathy.
