Darlene Weber, along with her children Jacob Vollman and Cathy Gilfillan, experienced a nightmare in their own home during a recent stabbing spree in Rockford, Illinois. The attacker, Christian Soto, killed four people and injured seven others, including Weber and her children.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Weber credits her son, Vollman, for saving her and her daughter’s lives during the attack. Vollman bravely fought with Soto to protect his family and prevent further harm. The family described the attacker as looking like “the devil incarnate” and covered in blood, with a disturbing appearance and seemingly under the influence of drugs.
Soto was arrested on charges of murder, attempted murder, and home invasion, and admitted to the crimes. He claimed to have taken marijuana laced with an unknown narcotic before the attacks, leading to his paranoid state and violent actions. The attack also claimed the lives of four other individuals, including Soto’s friend and his friend’s mother.
