Apple is shaking up its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this year by forgoing the traditional in-person event in favor of a special gathering at its Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California. The tech giant will be inviting a select group of developers and students to attend the exclusive event, which will feature a keynote viewing party, new programming, meetings with Apple experts, and other exciting activities.
To kick off the event, there will be a reception at Apple’s Infinite Loop campus on June 9 for attendees to pick up their badges early. The attendees will be chosen through a lottery selection process, which includes current Apple Developer Program members, Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni, and Swift Student Challenge winners. Those interested in attending can register on Apple’s developer website until April 3, with notifications expected to be sent out by April 4.
While there is no cost to attend the event, attendees will be responsible for covering their own transportation and accommodations. WWDC 2024 is scheduled to take place from June 10 to June 14, with a live stream available for those who are not selected to attend in person. Media invitations for the Apple Park event have not yet been sent out.
For those unable to attend the event in person, Apple plans to share all of the WWDC sessions and events on its Developer app and a new Apple Developer YouTube channel. This innovative approach to WWDC is sure to generate excitement among Apple enthusiasts and developers alike.
