Google’s AI chatbot Gemini, previously known as Bard, has announced that it will not answer questions regarding elections, both in the US and around the world, leading up to the 2024 US election. Instead of providing responses to election-related queries, Gemini states that it is “still learning how to answer this question” and directs users to traditional Google Search for information.
This decision to restrict election-related queries was revealed in December 2023, sparking curiosity about which specific questions will be accepted. Google has clarified that not all election-related inquiries are blocked, but has not given examples of the queries that will be answered by Gemini.
In addition to this restriction, Gemini has come under fire for its lack of historical context in images generated of individuals. As a result, Google has disabled this functionality and committed to improving this aspect of the chatbot.
Despite these challenges, Gemini has shown improvement since its rebranding from Bard. The chatbot has even replaced Google Assistant on Android devices and has deeper integration with other Google products such as Messages, Calendar, and Tasks.
Overall, Gemini’s evolution and capabilities continue to evolve as Google strives to enhance the user experience and address concerns regarding relevant and accurate information.
