The upcoming fight between boxing legend Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has sparked controversy within the combat sports community due to the significant age difference between the two fighters. Tyson, 57, will face off against Paul, 27, on July 20 at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has called out Paul, stating that he should be ashamed of himself for agreeing to fight someone so much older. MMA fighter Dillon Danis has also criticized the matchup, pointing out the age gap between the opponents.
Despite the criticism, oddsmakers have labeled Paul as the heavy favorite in the fight due to Tyson’s age. The matchup has also received backlash from popular YouTuber KSI, who expressed disappointment in the fight, stating that no one wanted to see it.
It remains unclear if the fight will be an official match or an exhibition, similar to Tyson’s previous fight against Roy Jones Jr. However, Tyron Woodley, who has fought Paul twice in the past and lost, is excited for the Tyson vs. Paul bout and predicts Tyson will come out victorious.
Woodley has defended the matchup against criticism from others, stating that the fight has nothing to do with anyone else but the two fighters involved. With the controversy surrounding the age gap and the differing opinions within the combat sports community, all eyes will be on the Tyson vs. Paul fight this July.
