Tensions Escalate Between Iran and Israel as Wave of Drones and Missiles Target Israel
Overnight on Sunday, a wave of drones and missiles targeted Israel, escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The attack was launched by Iran in response to a suspected Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier in the month.
More than 300 projectiles, including drones and ballistic missiles, were fired towards Israel, with most of them intercepted by Israeli defense systems. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that only light structural damage was caused by Iranian missiles that reached Israeli territory.
The US also confirmed that there was no significant damage within Israel due to the attack. Israel and Iran have a long-standing rivalry and have been engaged in a shadow war for years.
Iran warned of further retaliation if Israel launches a tit-for-tat attack in response to the recent strikes. Israel’s allies urged de-escalation and caution in responding to the Iranian strike.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the military’s response to the attack but emphasized the need to be prepared for any scenario. The decisions made by Israel’s War Cabinet will determine the immediate next steps in response to the attack.
The situation between Iran and Israel remains tense as both sides continue to exchange threats and attacks. Stay tuned for updates as the story develops.
