Hulu Scraps Diddy Reality Show Amidst Sexual Assault Lawsuits
In a shocking turn of events, streaming giant Hulu has decided to cancel a reality show that was in the early stages of development, following the family of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. The move comes after several lawsuits alleging sexual assault were filed against Combs.
The show, titled “Diddy+7,” was being produced by James Corden’s production company, Fulwell 73. It promised to provide an intimate look into the life of the Combs family, including their daily activities and personal struggles. However, with the mounting legal troubles surrounding the renowned artist, Hulu has decided to pull the plug on the project.
The first lawsuit was filed by Cassandra Ventura, Combs’ former long-time partner, who accused him of rape and assault dating back over a decade. However, the allegations were swiftly denied by Combs, and the suit was settled the very next day. This was followed by another lawsuit, filed by Joi Dickerson-Neal, who alleged that Combs had drugged and sexually assaulted her, as well as distributed revenge porn.
Adding to the controversy, a third lawsuit involving a Jane Doe claimed that both Combs and singer Aaron Hall had raped her and her friends in the early 1990s. Furthermore, another Jane Doe accused Combs, along with Bad Boy Entertainment president Harve Pierre and a third man, of raping her when she was just 17 years old.
Amidst these serious accusations, Combs took to Instagram on December 6th to deny the allegations and assert his determination to fight for his name, his family, and what he believes to be the truth.
The decision by Hulu to scrap “Diddy+7” showcases the growing importance of addressing the sexual assault allegations against high-profile individuals and taking them seriously. It demonstrates a clear commitment to standing with survivors and not providing platforms to those accused of such heinous acts.
For now, the focus remains on the judicial process as the lawsuits continue to make their way through the legal system. The fate of the show may have been sealed, but the ongoing legal battles will undoubtedly be closely monitored by those invested in the pursuit of justice.
As the impact of the #MeToo movement continues to reverberate throughout the entertainment industry and beyond, it is clear that accountability and transparency are paramount. This case involving Diddy serves as a reminder that alleged perpetrators must face the consequences of their actions, regardless of their stature or public image.
