‘RRR’ Emerges as Top Winner at India’s National Film Awards; Celebrating Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon for their Acting Excellence; Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry’ Acknowledged as Best Film

Title: S.S. Rajamouli’s “RRR” Dominates India’s National Film Awards with Six Wins

In a triumphant night for the Indian film industry, director S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus “RRR” secured six prestigious honors at the 2021-22 National Film Awards. Celebrating excellence in filmmaking, the awards recognized outstanding achievements across various categories.

“Rocketry,” the directorial debut of versatile actor R. Madhavan, clinched the highly coveted Best Film award. This heartfelt and inspiring biographical drama tells the remarkable story of Indian scientist Nambi Narayanan, marking Madhavan’s successful foray into directing.

Nikhil Mahajan’s “Godavari” garnered immense praise for its meticulous direction, earning Mahajan the Best Director accolade. The film offers a compelling narrative set against the backdrop of the scenic Godavari River.

“RRR” walked away with multiple awards, cementing its position as one of the highlights of the evening. The film was honored with the Popular Film award, along with wins in the Male Singer, Background Score, Special Effects, Choreography, and Action Direction categories. Rajamouli’s spectacular creation captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences with its captivating storytelling and mesmerizing visuals.

The Best Actor award went to the versatile Allu Arjun for his captivating performance in the action-packed thriller “Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1.” The film, which also won the Best Songs award, showcases Arjun’s incredible range as an actor in a gritty and intense role.

The Best Actress prize was shared by Alia Bhatt for her powerful portrayal in “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and Kriti Sanon for her exceptional performance in “Mimi.” The former also triumphed in the Adapted Screenplay, Dialog, Editing, and Makeup categories. Pankaj Tripathi received the Supporting Actor award for his remarkable performance in “Mimi.”

“The Kashmir Files” was recognized for its important theme, winning both the Supporting Actress and Best Film on National Integration awards. “Last Film Show” was awarded for its outstanding child actor and was also named Best Gujarati-language film.

Other notable winners included “Meppadian” for Best Debut Film and “Anunaad – The Resonance” for Best Film on Social Issues. “Shershaah” received the Special Jury Award, while “Ek Tha Gaon” was crowned the Best Non-Feature Film. “Nayattu” was honored for its brilliant screenplay, and “Sardar Udham” triumphed in the Best Cinematography and Best Hindi-language Film categories.

Acknowledging the remarkable achievements of the winners, India’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting praised the quality of competition and highlighted India’s potential as a global content hub. The awards not only felicitated the exceptional talent but also showcased the diverse and creative storytelling prevalent in the Indian film industry.

The 2021-22 National Film Awards served as a testament to the immense dedication and artistic brilliance displayed by Indian filmmakers. With their extraordinary contributions to cinema, these talented individuals have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the industry and inspired generations to come.
